E3 Challenge is about to begin!
Congratulations to our E3 Challenge organizing team for running very successful interview sessions. We’ve had an overwhelming response of over 40 applications! The 25 candidates have been selected and the teams are being matched up to our peer advisors and mentors. The orientation is happening this Saturday (June 30th) and the first challenge will be introduced to the participants! If you see the game booths at NIU!, give those people running the booth 3 cheers as they are our E3 participants!! Play their games and support them!
E3 peer advisors, mentors and dedicated PUYOers joined the coaching workshop this past weekend! A workshop meticulously put together by Jane Farris, a professional consultant. Not only did we learn what our communication style is, we also learned how to better understand each other’s style in creating the best environment in working with one another. Additionally, we learned what great presentations entail and learned how to provide positive and constructive feedback as coaches.
It’s a workshop to remember in not only getting to know yourself better but also how to bring out the best in others!

Our president, Cherry, was at an interview with Justin and his family for Fairchild this past weekend. Through the interview, she deeply felt how tough of a journey Justin and the entire family had to go through and are still going through to fight the illness. The interview of their family is to be released this Sunday on “What’s On” on Fairchild. Let’s do all we can to help! Also, don’t forget to tell your friends to text “WISH” to 45678 to donate $5 directly from your cellphones.
NBA 3X at Night It Up!
The CCYAA, our long-term partner for Night It Up!, has partnered with NBA Canada to bring NBA 3x to the CCYAA Sports Zone at NIU! this year.
With over 200 teams expected to compete, the NBA will also schedule to bring special guests such as the Raptors Dance Pak, the Raptors Mascot, and…Matt Bonner (yes you heard right!) to meet with fans and sign autographs.
One unique aspect to the Markham location of the tour specifically is the one-time occurrence of a special “Chinese Community” division. In an effort to reach out to the Chinese community and introduce new Canadians to the sport of basketball, NBA 3x will have a special “CCYAA” division which will focus on providing players from the Chinese community the opportunity to compete amongst each other and experience the fun of NBA 3x.
To enter the ‘Canadian Chinese Youth Athletic Association’ division:
1) Visit here to sign up your team!
2) Cost per team is $113 and will include 3 guaranteed games along with an NBA 3x jersey for each player
3) The tournament will be held on July 14 & 15 at 101 Town Centre Blvd.
For more information on all the CCYAA Sports Zone activities (which will also include events held by the Toronto Maple Leafs, Toronto FC, and Tennis Canada) please visit the website here!

Senior’s Luncheon – Volunteer Opportunity
Are you available on July 1st to do some volunteer work in the day?
There is a Senior’s Luncheon and help is needed to get the seniors organized and on buses.
If you are available from 10:30am-2pm and are willing to go to various community centres and call out and check off names of residents who have RSVP’d for the Senior’s Lunch, please meet with Joanne at 10:30am at Markville Mall. You will then get on buses that will go to the community centres and help to make sure all the seniors get on safely and on the right bus.
If you have any questions, please contact firstname.lastname@example.org. It’s a meaningful way to spend a few hours volunteering on Canada’s Day!
