Every month, PUYO hands out one Awesome Award to an individual who has shown initiative and gone above and beyond in their role. The recipient of the Awesome Award gets to pick the next winner. See who won in January and February below!
January Awesome Award: Alice Chong
Alice dedicated many hours in January to coordinate and execute one of the most important events on the PUYO calendar – the annual planning meeting. This included planning the schedule of events for the day, instructing all of the presenters in advance, and making use of a very innovative approval template. The annual planning meeting would not have gone so smoothly without Alice. In addition, Alice is one of several members who have taken the lead on organizing and archiving all of PUYO’s electronic documents in an initiative to better facilitate information-sharing within the organization in the future.

February Awesome Award: Maggie Cheung
Maggie took the initiative to create more presence for the Youth Development Team within the organization and she always finds ways to make continuous improvements. This is part of developing the organization. I really appreciate the way she communities to us. She would tell Rosanna (PUYO President) and I just enough information for us to know what is going on with her team, what are the issues, and how we can help. If she cannot make it to meetings or events, she will let us know well in advance and send us all the updates. Maggie did an amazing job coordinating the PUYO Orientation. It was very well organized and professional with great turn out. After the PUYO Orientation, the assembled teams were sent out promptly. A few month later, she also took the initiative to follow up with the Team Leads to check up on the status of their team members.
